Dance is for everybody. With this simple philosophy in mind, The Center for Contemporary Dance proudly offers one of the most creative, comprehensive and inclusive curricula in the Dance Arts. Featuring the area's largest selection of adult classes, specialty classes for pre-teens and teens, and a Creative Movement Academy for little movers, there's something for everyone at CCD!
More than a standard dance studio, The Center for Contemporary Dance is a leading Florida cultural organization supported by United Arts of Central Florida. Operating in accordance with the National Standards for Dance Education, CCD's programs are designed to provide the student—from novice to professional—with vast experiences in classical, post-classical and world dance forms. A complete dance education is our priority. Rather than focusing on competitions and recitals, CCD is in the business of developing artists who make valuable, long-term contributions in personal and professional arenas. For this reason, curriculum emphasizes art making, technical development and mastery of one's unique creative process. This is how the Artist emerges. |

Tuition and Registration
Download the Tuition Schedule
The Center for Contemporary Dance does not randomly make use of a monthly tuition systems or contracts, and new students may enroll at any time. Only students in the Pre-Professional Program, who are required to attend a pre-determined number of class hours each semester, pay a monthly tuition. All other students participate in CCD's affordable pay-as-you-go tuition system. Students may pay per class, but most take advantage of packaged sessions wherein a number of class hours are purchased upfront and deducted from Dance Cards as students attend class. Packaged sessions offer the benefit of lower per class rates and unused sessions simply rollover to the next month until the (generous) expiration date is reached. Please take a moment to review the Tuition Schedule at the right, which includes links to register for classes online. Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. We're always happy to help! |

Creative Movement Academy
Children are the most creative people on earth. When properly nurtured, their intuitive creativity becomes a marketable skill they will use as future scholars, artists and innovative leaders who manifest unimagined change in the world. The Creative Movement Academy is designed to teach young dancers ages 2 through 7 how to harness and apply their natural creativity, positioning it as a necessary tool for long-term success. Facilitated by dance educators with years of experience in their field, The Creative Movement Academy maintains an exploratory curriculum that doesn't limit or define the young dancer. Rather, the Academy ensures that students experiment with various dance styles so they may have a full range of experiences that empower them to make informed choices when they are ready for higher-level, discipline-specific classes. Using dance as a medium for cultivating a child's natural sense of wonder, imagination and exploration, The Creative Movement Academy has been developed in accordance with the National Standards for Dance Education. In addition to receiving an outstanding, developmentally-appropriate education in dance, Academy students practice 3 primary elements used by all great achievers: Co-Creative Process, Experiential Learning, and Character Development. |

Now Casting for the Winter 2011 Student Concert!
2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center The Center for Contemporary Dance offers a performance-based education without competitions or recitals. All students, regardless of age or skill level, have the opportunity to participate in a professionally-developed Winter Concert that takes place at the close of the fall term. Participation in the Winter Concert is optional, but strongly recommended in order to achieve the full educational experience, which includes the formal demonstration of material. The Center for Contemporary Dance does not allow the use of regular class hours for performance preparation. Regular classes are reserved for the practice of broad skill sets and limiting class time to the learning of a single performance routine is not conducive to a holistic education in dance. For this reason, students in the Concert attend special rehearsals, separate from regular classes; this model gives students the additional experience of 'learning like a professional,' with exposure to industry standards that come with Concert preparation. Join us for this rewarding artistic experience! |
