Designed to expand the dancer’s technical and artistic skills, Master Classes and Specialty Workshops take place on designated Saturdays as listed on the schedule below.  Dancer's of all levels are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Beginners will focus on fundamental class concepts, while intermediate/advanced students will  concentrate on the detailed application of new movement styles. 

 

Led by The Center’s Master Teachers, Master Classes and Specialty Workshops purposefully include unique and focused areas of study that will broaden the student’s movement vocabulary, artistic range and understanding of dance health.  Add a Master Class or Specialty Workshop to your current class studies and see how quickly you grow!

Specialty Workshop Fee  (2-Hour Lecture Class)

Tuition Policy:  Tuition and fees must be paid in full prior to attendance.  Missed days from class cannot be made-up and tuition is non-refundable.

REGISTRATION

Registration into is ongoing, however Master Classes are limited to 15 students.  Lecture-based workshops are limited to 50 students.  Early registration is highly recommended and may be completed in any of the following ways:

SMC0703   Contemporary Dance:  Emoting Through Movement

Saturday, July 17 ~ Noon to 3:00pm

Level:  Beginner to Advanced

Class Type:  Movement/Dance

Areas of Exploration:  Participants will learn new approaches to captivating audiences by creating emotional connections to assigned choreography.  Led by Artistic Director Dario J. Moore, who is known for a unique contemporary style that is graceful, strong and emotionally-grounded, students will personalize a contemporary dance combination through feeling and character development.  Partcipants will also learn how to self-critique and make dramatic improvements in performance skills.  A must for aspiring dancers and those pursuing a professional career in the dance arts!

SWS0903   Nutrition for the Dancer:  Why It's Not Your Fault If You Can't Lose Weight

Saturday, July 24 ~ 1:00pm to 3:00pm

Level:  Open to all dancers and non-dancers

Class Type:  Lecture/Dialogue

Areas of Exploration:  You've been told that it's as simple as 'calories in - calories out.'  You've followed strict diet plans only to be frustrated with the yo-yo effect and an inability to lose those 'last 10 pounds.'  But is eating a proper diet enough?  Learn how increasing your capacity for pleasure will unlock your body's ability to unleash a naturally and healthfully slim you.  Find out which primary foods are lacking in your diet and how this may be blocking your goal of losing weight and shaping the body that you want.  This lecture/process group will equip you with key principals that are essential to optitum dancer health and form.

SMC0704   Modern Roots

Saturday, August 7 ~ Noon to 3:00pm

Level:  Beginner to Advanced

Class Type:  Movement/Dance

Areas of Exploration:   A rich exploration of the founders of modern dance!  Participants will further their understanding and application of the elements of modern dance through an intense movement study in  Graham Technique, Horton Technique and Dunham Technique.  The class begins with a 45-minute Horton-based warm-up, followed by Graham-based floor work and ends with a Dunham-inspired combination layered with Horton and Graham movement qualities.  A must for the modern dance student interested in expanding their knowledge, movement vocabulary and skill level!  

Instructor:  Jere James, Principal Dancer for Moore Dance Project.
