Seeking Experienced and Athletic African-American Dancers

Moore Dance Project, Central Florida's first and only African-American professional dance ensemble (modern/contemporary), seeks experienced, mature, athletic African-American dancers to perform in upcoming 2010-2011 Season of Dance, including regional tours scheduled throughout Florida. Dancers must be physically fit, and well-trained in modern, ballet, jazz and/or contemporary. Private auditions will be arranged by appointment.
 
Auditions for Pre-Professionals

The Pre-Professional Program at The Center for Contemporary Dance prepares dedicated and passionate dancers ages 9-17 and 18-25 (Adult Track) for a career in the Dance Arts. Pre-professionals participate in a rigorous training program and performance Company while learning necessary skills that prepare them for entry into a university dance program and/or professional dance company, including those operating out of The Center for Contemporary Dance.

All classes are conducted in accordance with the National Standards for Dance Education, providing the student with a comprehensive education in the dance arts. Graduates of the program have entered the most prestigious dance programs across the nation, including those at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, the Juilliard School, Point Park University, New York University and many more.

Audition Tips BONUS: Audition Tips!


Unless otherwise stated in the audition notice, candidates should:
  1. Call or email to schedule and confirm your audition.
  2. Bring a headshot and résumé to the audition.
  3. Wear form-fitting black dancewear.
  4. Arrive 15-minutes early to complete potential paperwork.
  5. Once in the audition room, get yourself warm and ready to dance.
  6. Focus on yourself, not other dancers; avoid unnecessary talking.
  7. Smile and greet your audition judges with confidence.
  8. During the audition, worry less about the executing the exact choreography and more about bringing something special to the work—show them who you are!
  9. If you're not sure about something, including choreography, don't be afraid to ask for direction—then, immediately apply the information.
  10. Smile and thank your audition judges for the opportunity to audition.
