We
don’t believe you should ever pay for a class you don’t attend. The Center for Contemporary
Dance, therefore, does not randomly make use of a monthly tuition
systems or contracts. Only students in the Pre-Professional Program, who are required to attend a
pre-determined number of class hours each semester, pay a monthly
tuition. All other students participate in The Center’s affordable
pay-as-you-go tuition system.
Students
may pay per class, but most take advantage of packaged sessions
wherein a number of class hours are purchased upfront and deducted
from Dance Cards as students attend class. Package sessions offer the
benefit of a lower per class rate and unused sessions simply
rollover to the next month until the (generous) expiration date is
reached. Students who
must take an extended hiatus (3 or more weeks) from dance may freeze
their Dance Card account, so that time away from The Center doesn’t
count towards the expiration period.
Also,
you’ll never run into ‘surprise’ fees for anything. Students who participate in
the semester-end concert are not charged
costume or venue fees.
The Center’s student showcases are
not recitals, but rather an artistic presentation of new work
developed by students (all ages and levels) interested in learning
more about creative process and the production of concert-level
dance. Elaborate
costumes, therefore, are not required for concert presentations;
students make use of simple black dancewear allowing the movement to
stand on its own.
