About The Center for Contemporary Dance

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization founded in 2001, The Center for Contemporary Dance is a dance education, incubation and production center with multiple awards from the National Endowment for the Arts and United Arts of Central Florida.  As a leading Florida cultural organization, the School supports the development of emerging dance artists through exceptional training in classical ballet, modern dance, contemporary dance and musical theatre studies.  Pre-Professional Programs in Classical Ballet/Modern Dance are designed to prepare serious-minded students ages 10-18 for entry into both university programs and careers in the dance arts.  Preparatory programs begin at age 3, facilitating an appreciation, discipline and foundation for future studies in dance and the performing arts.

Master Teaching Artists from The Center for Contemporary Dance are contracted to deliver programs in the public school system and in collaboration with community organizations across 5 Central Florida counties.  Since 2001, the organization has reached more than 12,000 young people through customized arts education programs and age-appropriate performances that promote access to inspire an appreciation for the performing arts.

The Center for Contemporary Dance also produces world-class performances featuring student artists and professionals alike.  Pre-professional and professional artists develop and customize performances for corporate events, universities, and independent theatres across the nation.  And over the past 16 years, the organization’s Residency Program has cultivated contemporary dance in the area by supporting students and seasoned artists in the creation and presentation of more than 250 new dance works, including those by Moore Dance Project, Dawn Branch Works, Coby Project, Patelworks Dance Theater, Tajma, Mary Love Dance Projects and many more.

Come, discover the dance!
